In-depth safety analysis
The extension requests permissions typical for an audio recorder: tabCapture to grab sound from a browser tab, activeTab to interact with the current page, downloads to save recordings, and offscreen/alarms for background processing. This scope is expected for its function, but the developer’s disclosed data collection of Location, Web history, and Website content goes beyond what is strictly needed to capture audio, so users should review the privacy policy to understand why.
Browser-based audio recorders sit in a category where a careful user should be aware that granting tabCapture gives the extension the ability to hear audio from any open tab – including sensitive conversations or media. Always verify that you trust the publisher, and only activate capture on tabs you intend to record. Check whether the extension clearly explains how it handles captured audio and associated page metadata.
The fact sheet gives the strongest rating to Permissions & Access (90%), indicating the requested permissions are relatively well-scoped and aligned with the extension’s core purpose. The weakest score is Publisher & Identity (60%), suggesting limited verifiable information about the publisher – a common caution flag regardless of the extension’s functionality. Users may want to favour extensions from well-known, clearly identified developers.
