Is Video & Audio Downloader Safe? — Extension Safety Profile

The extension requests permissions to read and change data on any website (*://*/*), manage downloads, use storage, observe network requests via webRequest, and show notifications. For a video and audio downloader, this is a typical scope: it needs to scan web pages and network traffic to detect media files on any site you visit, and trigger the browser’s download manager. The host permission is broad but expected for its category.

Download managers that work across all domains inherently have the ability to monitor your browsing. A careful user should verify the developer’s privacy policy, especially regarding what data is collected and how it’s handled. Be aware that any extension with such broad access could potentially track page visits, interact with download links, or be misused if compromised. Since the developer’s privacy declarations state data is not sold or used for unrelated purposes, that provides some assurance, but the community reputation rating of 66% suggests mixed user feedback.

This extension’s strongest safety dimension is Permissions & Access (90%), meaning the permissions are well-aligned with its function and no unnecessary sensitive access is requested. The weakest is Publisher & Identity (60%), pointing to limited publicly available information about the developer. That lack of transparency makes it harder to assess long-term trustworthiness, so users should monitor for unexpected behavior after updates.
