In-depth safety analysis
A color picker tool that requests access to all websites can theoretically read every page you visit. This is a common pattern for many extensions in this category, as the eye dropper needs to sample colors from any tab you activate it on. The activeTab permission limits this access to tabs where you click the extension icon, meaning it cannot silently read data in the background, but the broad host permission gives it the capability to do so when invoked.
General-purpose browser extensions like this one should always be reviewed carefully. A typical risk is that a popular utility might be cloned or sold to another developer who could alter its behavior in future updates. Since color pickers can see page content, a user should consider whether the publisher's long-term reputation and transparency justify trusting them with access to sensitive sites they might browse.
The fact sheet shows a strong Data & Privacy score and a perfect Maintenance & Ownership score, indicating the developer has provided clear privacy declarations and the extension is actively maintained. However, the Publisher & Identity dimension is the weakest area, which often means there is limited publicly documented information about the company or developer behind the extension.
AI-assisted analysis of the documented signals above (permissions, store data, privacy practices) — explains what they mean and the risks typical for this category. Not a hands-on test.
