In-depth safety analysis
BetterTTV requests scripting and activeTab permissions, combined with host access limited to *://*.twitch.tv/*. This allows it to inject custom scripts and modify page content exclusively on Twitch. For a site-specific enhancer, this scope is normal and expected, as it needs to alter the Twitch interface to add chat features and emotes. It does not ask for broad browsing data or access to other websites.
Extensions that modify a single platform like Twitch can read and change what you see and do on that site, including chat messages and viewing activity. The developer declares collection of personally identifiable information, so you should review their privacy policy to understand what is gathered. A common risk in this category is the appearance of lookalike or cloned extensions that may be malicious; always verify you are installing the genuine BetterTTV from the official store listing with a large user base and regular updates.
The fact sheet shows a high safety score of 86.45/100. The strongest dimension is Maintenance & Ownership at 100%, indicating the extension is actively maintained and its ownership is clear. The weakest is Publisher & Identity at 60%, suggesting limited publicly available information about the developer behind betterttv.com, which may make it harder to assess their long-term trustworthiness beyond the extension’s track record.

Who's Behind BetterTTV?
- Publisher betterttv.com
Public records identify the publisher, but no individual founders or a separate registered company are named — which is what holds the Publisher & Identity score back. Less public information about who operates an extension means less you can verify about their long-term accountability.
